Regina Maihan, MSc, MBA

Regina Maihan, MSc, MBA, is a dynamic Urban Planner and sustainable development advocate based in Tampa, Florida, with over six years of experience spanning government, international development, and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as a Planner in the Community & Infrastructure Planning Department at Hillsborough County, where she plays a key role in shaping land use and transportation policies, conducting data-driven studies, and advancing equitable, sustainable infrastructure solutions. Regina’s commitment to community-based development is evident in her hands-on approach, integrating public engagement with technical planning to address urban mobility, environmental resilience, and housing challenges.

Her academic journey reflects her passion for multidisciplinary impact: she holds a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from Gazi University and an MBA from the University of the People, complementing her BSc in Urban Studies from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. As Co-Founder of the Afghan Women Engineers Association and a GGAF Ambassador, Regina also champions inclusion and empowerment in the planning profession. Her professional path includes contributions to organizations such as the United Nations, TİKA, and Kabul Municipality, underscoring her global perspective on urban growth and sustainability. Regina is also recognized for her research on transportation strategies in post-conflict cities and was honored as “Student of the Year” by the Embassy of Afghanistan in Turkey.
